Well, it's official! I've just been selected to be a recipient of the 2009 Guggenheim award in music composition! This is truly an honor; I feel humbled and privileged to be part of such a prestigious legacy. This prize is going to help fund my next jazz/chamber project for artistshare. So many of you have helped me get to this place in my career, through your love and support of my music, and I want to take this time out to thank each and every one of you.
Meanwhile...
Preparations to record "Jazz-Chamber Music, Vol. 2" are officially under way and I have to say, I'm really excited. The same cast of characters will be involved, along with some new ones. Brian Blade and Scott Colley will be returning and Antonio Sanchez will join us for the first time. Of course, the nucleus of the group - Bob Sheppard, Carol Robbins, and Larry Koonse - will be there as well. Perhaps, most exciting of all - we'll be joined by the Ying String Quartet, a world renowned, Grammy Award winning classical string quartet.
Please join us in this new chapter of the Jazz Chamber Ensemble, and please keep visiting the site; I will update you as new events unfold...
Take care,
Billy
